In direct opposition to the Mercury Music Prize, UK based webzine The Line of Best Fit devised an alternative shortlist; The Uranus Music Prize. Awesome name. Seriously though, it's a great list of mentionables from the past 12-18 months by British and Irish musicians. Pausal's "Lapses" CD neighbors some respectable names like Broadcast, Autechre, and David Sylvian. Gents, cheers to you!
We thought it'd be fun to compile and DJ a podcast for the excellent Type label. You can hear the Typecast here. It's a nice blend of experimental, avant-dub, and all around beautiful weirdness culled from Ian & Dave's vinyl collections. Enjoy!
We've made two gorgeous videos by Pausal available here on our site. The videos were created by Pausal to accompany certain pieces from the Lapses album, which is available here. Be sure to check out Pausal's other videos as well on their official Vimeo page.
Pausal's new album Lapses is now available here on the Barge site, and at finer shops near you. In celebration of the release, Pausal has compiled and mixed a wonderful Typecast for the Type Records site, available for download here. Featuring tracks by The Fun Years, Quantec, Andrew Thomas, Stephan Mathieu, and several others, this 96 minute mix blends tracks seamlessly and neighbors artists that would otherwise clash without Pausal's good ear.
U.K. duo Pausal makes their Barge Recordings debut with Lapses, a full-length release available on March 9th 2010. We are thrilled to be releasing Lapses—it's a monumentally beautiful album and the first proper ambient release to come from Barge. These twelve gorgeous works of composed drone were crafted primarily from guitar, piano, violin, old classical vinyl and field recordings, all processed and played through various effects. Highly-skilled in subtlety and the economy of composition, Lapses is an elegant, emotive listen. Barge is honored to have Pausal on the roster.
In other news, The Fun Years have announced the album title of their new full length on Barge. "God Was Like, No" will be available on limited vinyl, as well as CD and digital. This is the first vinyl full-length from the boys, and we're super psyched to release it in the late spring!
